Choose the question before choosing the metric
For a networking review, ask how many people joined your first-degree network in each month. For an outreach review, also ask how many invitations you sent. These are different populations and should be reported in separate columns.
In LinkAvro, open Insights, refresh your connected network, and choose the year. The monthly connection chart groups available LinkedIn connection dates into the twelve months of that year.
Use a repeatable monthly review
Record the reporting year and refresh date so you can explain changes when you revisit the report. Current-network reporting can change if a connection is removed or a later sync provides more information.
- Refresh the network at a consistent point in your reporting cycle.
- Read the chosen month's connection total and compare it with the previous month.
- Check sent, failed, and queued requests in the separate activity chart.
- Review whether the people you connected with match your intended audience.
- Use that review to refine the next recipient list, rather than increasing volume by default.
A worked example: why sent does not equal accepted
Illustrative example: you send 40 invitations in January and your network contains 12 connections dated January. Dividing 12 by 40 gives 30%, but that is not necessarily the acceptance rate of those 40 invitations. Some of the 12 may come from earlier requests or from people who invited you.
A true cohort acceptance rate needs matched recipients and a defined observation window. LinkAvro labels matching sent profiles against your current network as inferred acceptance. Use that distinction when sharing a report.
Avoid misleading comparisons
Do not compare a partial current month with a full previous month without noting the different time windows. Do not use missing daily snapshots as proof that no growth happened. And do not interpret a low connection count as proof that every invitation failed: recipients can accept later.
Monthly totals show network development. Relevance, conversations, and resulting relationships still need your own review; a count alone cannot prove lead quality or revenue.
